From Pull to Play: TCG Accessories for Collectors, Traders and Players
Posted by Sarah Kearns on
As we have become more involved in trading card games ourselves, we have gradually added more TCG accessories to the shop. Some are designed to protect your collection, some make trading and selling easier, and others help you actually play with your cards without your table descending into chaos.
Here is what we can currently offer TCG collectors, sellers and players.
Numbered Card Sleeves for Organising Sales and Trades
Our numbered soft penny sleeves are one of those products that solves a very specific problem.
Each pack contains 100 clear sleeves, individually numbered from 1 to 100. They are made from clear, acid-free polypropylene and are designed for standard-sized 35 Pt sports and trading cards.
Why number the sleeves?
They are particularly useful for anyone selling cards during live streams, claim sales or social media events. Instead of trying to describe “the shiny one near the Pikachu” or repeatedly checking card names, each card can be given a clear number.
A buyer claims card 27, you note down card 27, and everyone knows exactly which card is being discussed. Simple.
They can also be useful for:
- Organising cards before a convention or card show
- Keeping track of cards during online sales
- Numbering a trade selection
- Sorting cards for breaks or mystery bundles
- Cataloguing cards before adding them to a collection database
They are not the most glamorous product in the TCG world, but they can save a surprising amount of confusion when you have dozens of cards laid out in front of you.
Card Organisers for a Tidier Games Table
Collecting cards is only half the hobby. Occasionally, we even take them out of the binder and play with them.
Our 3D-printed draw and discard organiser has two separate sections, so your active deck and discard pile stay clearly divided during a game. It holds up to approximately 60 single-sleeved cards and is suitable for standard cards up to 68mm by 94mm.
This is particularly handy when table space is limited or when the discard pile has developed its usual habit of slowly spreading across the table.
We also make individual player dashboard organisers with a double card rail and four small token areas. They can hold six cards without overlapping, or around 10 to 12 cards with some overlap, and work with both sleeved and unsleeved cards.
These are useful for games where you need to keep a hand of cards visible to yourself, track several resources or stop tokens wandering into somebody else’s play area.
Neoprene Playmats for TCG Games
A playmat is not essential, but once you have played on one for a while, going back to picking cards up from a bare table feels surprisingly awkward.
Our individual TCG playmats measure 47cm by 31cm, so they create a defined player area without taking over the entire table. They are printed onto polyester-topped 1.5mm neoprene with a non-slip rubber backing and can be used with sleeved or unsleeved cards.
The smooth surface makes it easier to draw, move and pick up cards, while the rubber backing helps stop the whole play area sliding around during a game.
We print our playmats in-house, and alongside our own background designs, we can also produce custom versions using artwork supplied by the customer. The artwork must be suitable for printing and the customer must have permission to use it, so sadly we cannot simply grab licensed artwork from the internet and hope nobody notices.
Trading Card Binders for Small and Large Collections
Binders are where collecting becomes dangerously satisfying.
There is something about completing a page, arranging cards by set number or finally filling an empty space that makes the collection feel much more real.
We currently offer both four-pocket and nine-pocket premium zip binders.
Four-Pocket TCG Binders
The four-pocket binder is the smaller and more portable option. It contains 20 double-sided archival-safe pages with 160 side-loading pockets in total.
The padded cover, side-loading pockets and zip closure help keep cards secure, while the acid-free, PVC-free materials make it suitable for longer-term storage. The pockets fit standard-sized sleeved cards up to 68mm by 97mm, although they are not designed to hold cards in toploaders.
This size works well for:
- A favourite character or card type
- A smaller complete set
- Trade cards for events
- A child’s growing collection
- A carefully selected collection of favourite pulls
It is also much easier to carry around than a binder containing several hundred cards, especially once you realise just how heavy a large card collection can become.
Nine-Pocket TCG Binders
For larger collections, our nine-pocket binders hold up to 360 standard-sized cards.
They contain 20 built-in double-sided pages, with nine side-loading pockets on each side. Each pocket is backed by black web material to help grip and frame the cards, while the padded outer cover and metal zip help protect the collection from dust and everyday knocks.
Alongside the plain MintKeeper colour options, we also offer binders printed with our own designs. These are UV printed in-house using a MintKeeper binder as the base, giving collectors something a little more interesting than the standard plain black folder.
Our designs currently include themes such as colourful waves and haunted temples, with both four-pocket and nine-pocket versions available across the range. The designs may change as we add new artwork, mostly because once we start designing patterns, we are not especially good at stopping.
Magnetic Deck Boxes for Game Night
Once you have selected a deck, you need something sturdier than a loose elastic band to transport it. Yes, we have all seen it done. No, we do not recommend it.
Our patterned magnetic deck boxes are made from printed PU leather and have a magnetic closure, two removable dividers and space for up to 100 single-sleeved standard-sized cards.
The dividers can be used to separate your main deck, sideboard, tokens or additional cards, depending on the game you play.
The boxes are lightweight enough to take to a local game night, tournament or convention, but still provide a more secure and presentable way to carry a deck than dropping it into the bottom of your bag and hoping for the best.
We currently offer several printed themes, including dragons, werewolves, warning signs, containment chambers and a goose who looks as though it has already been asked to leave at least one tournament.
The designs are created and UV printed by us in the UK, with a gloss layer added over the artwork to help it stand up to regular use.
One important thing to note is that these boxes are intended for unsleeved or single-sleeved cards. They are not designed to hold a full 100-card double-sleeved Commander deck, because there are some challenges even a determined small business with several machines cannot overcome.
Building a TCG Setup That Works for You
Not every collector needs every accessory.
Someone completing sets at home may mainly need good sleeves and a secure binder. A regular player may get more use from a deck box, playmat and table organiser. A seller preparing for card shows or live sales may find that numbered sleeves save more time than anything else on this list.
The aim is not to fill your gaming bag with accessories for the sake of it. It is to make protecting, organising, trading and playing with your cards a little easier.
Many of our TCG products are designed, printed or 3D printed by us here in Newcastle, and we are continuing to add new patterns and products as we spend more time in the hobby.
Because what every growing card collection really needs is somebody nearby with a UV printer and very little self-control.
